Misconceptions “Drag Queen to Sex Change”

Stereotypes and Labels – Where the misconceptions start - How the media sees us– Male / Female – Society versus Nature.

Session 1b 
“Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, So where on Earth do Trans People come from?”

Genes and Hormones – the latest research on the biological basis for Transgender & Intersex people,and the development of Trans people through puberty and beyond.

Session 1c
“Trying to pin down the Gender Rainbow” Terms and Definitions – an attempt to classify the rainbow of gender difference, while recognizing the diversity of Trans people.

Session 2 
“Legislation which affects Transgender People, and it’s often unexpected consequences”

Session 3 
“Equality needs of Trans People” and “ Lives that progress to fulfillment”-

Short Q+A session and Evaluation of the Workshop

A request for feedback will be made at the end of the workshop and time allowed for attendees to explain how they felt the session benefited them.

Breaks will held at key points between sessions

New to the Trans scene? Trying to come-out for the first time or just Looking for Trans friends, visit our Bi-weekly Wednesday afternoon event.

Butterflies meet at the LGBT Foundation on Richmond Street throughout the year on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday afternoon of the month from 2.30pm to 6.00pm
